چکیده

We report the steady-state and the excited state properties of 1, 3, 10, 30-tetraethyl-5, 6, 50, 60-tetrachlorobenzimidazolocarbocyanine iodide (TTBC) in various solvents. The magnitude of the Stokes shift and the average transition energy proves that the structure of the fluorescent state should be very similar to that of the ground-state structure. The fluorescence lifetimes and quantum yields indicate that non-radiative processes are collectively much more effective than the radiative processes. It is therefore suggested that the non-radiative processes, which are driven by the medium around the TTBC molecule control the excited state dynamics. r 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. The photophysics of 7-(diethylamino)coumarin- 3-carboxylic acid N-succinimidyl ester in reverse micelle: excitation wavelength dependent dynamics†

This paper focuses on the photophysical studies of 7-(diethylamino)coumarin-3-carboxylic acid N-succinimidyl ester (7-DCCAE) in aqueous reverse micelles using steady state absorption, fluorescence emission and picosecond time resolved emission spectroscopy. We used sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate (AOT) as surfactant to prepare reverse micelles. We have observed excitation wavelength dependent phot...

Dependence of poly(p-phenylene vinylene) morphology and time-resolved photophysics on precursor solvent

The effects of precursor solvent on the optical properties and morphology of poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) films are investigated using X-ray diffraction, steady state absorption and fluorescence, and picosecond time-resolved spectroscopy. Precursor films spin cast from water yield PPV films with higher average crystallite size and conjugation than films cast from methanol. These changes aff...

Time-resolved excited state dynamics of a cyanine dye

X Ž . The photophysics and isomerization dynamics in the excited state of a cyanine dye, 3,3 -di 3-sulfopropyl -thiacyanine triethylaminium salt was investigated. Using the femotosecond time-resolved fluorescence up-conversion technique, wavelength-dependent fluorescence dynamics was observed and the theoretical prediction of the dual fluorescence behavior was vindicated. The results were expla...

Unusually slow proton transfer dynamics of a 3-hydroxychromone dye in protic solvents.

The photophysics of a 3-hydroxychromone dye, 2-(2-furyl)-3-hydroxychromone (FHC) was explored in different types of protic solvents by steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. FHC exhibits a dual emission, attributable to the excited normal (N*) and tautomer (T*) forms resulting from an excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction (N*-->T*). The ESIPT rate decr...

An investigation into the photochemistry of, and the electrochemically induced CO-loss from, [(CO)5MC(OMe)Me](M = Cr or W) using low-temperature matrix isolation, picosecond infrared spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and time-dependent density functional theory.

The photophysics and photochemistry of [(CO)5MC(OMe)Me] (M = Cr or W) were investigated using picosecond time-resolved infrared spectroscopy (M = Cr or W), low-temperature matrix isolation techniques (M = Cr), and time-dependent density functional calculations (M = Cr or W). These studies provide unambiguous evidence for the photochemical formation of a long-lived, 18-electron metallaketene spe...
